She awoke early to prepare breakfast for Mother's Day.
She liked to do this every year because it took Mommy's breath away.
Today it would be cereal with milk and toast with jam,

She handmade a beautiful card with hearts and x's and o's
And a verse that said, "I love you, Mommy, from my fingers to my toes."
She ran outside to collect yellow daffodils and dandy lions for the little vase.
She knew that the splash of color would bring a smile to Mommy's face.

She gave it all to her Mommy and Mommy began to cry
Because mommies presented with such love cannot accept it with a dry eye.
"Oh, Laura, thank you so much," is what her Mommy said,
While her Mommy hugged her gratefully for the gift of breakfast in bed.

Later in the day, Laura went to ride her bike with Krystal from next door
